BIM & 3D Modeling

Every Tectonix project starts with a full 3D Tekla Structures model — but on BIM-mandated projects, the model itself is a deliverable. We produce coordination-ready exports, join clash-detection meetings through your U.S. project manager, and resolve steel-side conflicts before they become field problems. One model drives the drawings, the CNC data, and the BIM coordination, so nothing gets out of sync.

What's Included

Inside a BIM / 3D Scope

Tekla Structures modeling, clash detection, and coordinated BIM deliverables — IFC, Navisworks, and Revit-compatible exports your GC's federated model can consume directly.

Tekla Structures Modeling

Full 3D parametric steel models — every member, connection, bolt, and weld — built to drive drawing extraction and machine data with single-model accuracy.

BIM Coordination Exports

IFC 2x3 / IFC 4, Navisworks NWC, and Revit-compatible exports on the GC's coordination schedule, with model versioning tracked by your U.S. PM.

Clash Detection & Resolution

Steel-side clash review against architectural, MEP, and concrete models. Our PM attends coordination meetings and owns the steel clash log.

Model-Based Takeoffs

Highly accurate material takeoffs and advance bills of material extracted directly from the model for estimating and procurement.

CNC / Machine Data

NC1/DSTV, DXF, and XML output for drill lines, copers, plate processors, and plasma cutters — eliminating manual shop programming.

Model Handover

Native Tekla models or neutral-format exports delivered at project close for facility management and future renovation work.

Typical Project Timeline

How a BIM / 3D Engagement Runs

Durations vary with project size and document completeness — we confirm a project-specific schedule during your free scope review.

1
2–3 days

BIM Execution Plan Review

We review the project's BIM execution plan and confirm export formats, coordination cadence, and level of development requirements.

2
2–4 weeks

Model Build

Full Tekla model developed from contract documents with LOD 350+ steel geometry, connections, and attachments.

3
Weekly / bi-weekly

Coordination Cycles

Model exports issued on the GC's coordination schedule; clashes reviewed, assigned, and resolved with your PM in the meeting.

4
Ongoing

Fabrication Data & Handover

CNC data and drawings extracted from the coordinated model; final model handed over at close-out in the format your contract requires.
